The Romans Road to Salvation
The Romans Road to Salvation is a simple yet powerful way to understand God’s plan of redemption through the words of Scripture. Each step comes straight from the Book of Romans in the King James Version, revealing why we need salvation, what Christ has done for us, and how we can respond in faith. It is entirely rooted in the Word of God alone—no opinions, no additions—just the truth of Scripture.
We Are All Sinners – Romans 3:23
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
God’s Word makes it clear that every person who has ever lived has sinned. None of us measure up to God’s perfect holiness. Sin separates us from God, and no amount of good works or moral living can erase that truth. The Romans Road begins by helping us understand our true spiritual condition: we are sinners in need of a Savior.
The Penalty of Sin – Romans 6:23
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Sin has a cost, and the Bible tells us plainly—it leads to death. This is both physical death and spiritual death, eternal separation from God. But God, in His love and mercy, offers us a gift: eternal life through Jesus Christ. Salvation is not something we can earn. It is a gift God freely offers to all who will receive it.
Christ Died For Us – Romans 5:8
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
God didn’t wait for us to clean up our lives or somehow become “worthy.” He loved us even in our sinful state. Jesus Christ took our punishment upon Himself when He died on the cross. His sacrifice is the greatest display of love the world has ever known. Through His death and resurrection, He made the only possible way for us to be saved.
How to Be Saved – Romans 10:9–10
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Salvation is received through faith. It is not about religion, rituals, or personal merit. The Bible says we must believe in our heart that Jesus Christ died and rose again, and we must confess Him as Lord. This is a sincere act of faith and surrender—trusting Jesus alone for forgiveness and eternal life.
God’s Promise of Salvation – Romans 10:13
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
What a glorious promise! Whosoever means anyone—no matter their past, their failures, or their struggles. If a person calls upon the Lord in faith, God promises salvation. He does not turn away a seeking heart. This final step on the Romans Road shows the simplicity and certainty of God’s invitation.
Reflection
The prayer itself does not save—Christ saves.
But if you understand these truths and believe them, you can call upon the Lord right now:
“Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. I believe You died for me and rose again. I ask You to forgive me of my sins. I place my faith in You alone as my Lord and Savior. Thank You for saving me. Amen.”
If you have called upon the Lord in faith, the Bible says you are saved—not by feelings, not by works, but by the unchanging promises of God.
